Yoshida is the 34th station on the Tokaido from the Edo side.
There is a red seal of 601, and it was a station from the beginning when the Tokaido was established.
It is located about 287km west of Nihonbashi in Edo.
It is about 6.1km away from Futagawa to the east, and about 10.5km away from Goyu to the west.
The town is about 2.6km long, or 23 cho.
It was a post town that combined the castle town of Yoshida Castle and the port towns (Yoshidaminato, Funamachi).
The station is made up of 12 cho of front towns and 12 cho of back towns, for a total of 24 cho.
There were two honjin, one wakihonjin, and 65 inns.
The total number of households was about 1,000.
The population was between 5,000 and 7,000.
There were many women who served as hostesses.
Fudagi-cho, where the honjin was located, was near the main gate of Yoshida Castle.
It was a bustling center as it also had a wholesaler for horse and man relays.
It is now the center of Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture.
Toyohashi City is the economic and transportation center of the Mikawa region.
The city has a population of about 370,000 and is the fifth largest city in Aichi Prefecture.
The center of the city was Yoshida from the Middle Ages to the Edo period.
Places named Yoshida existed all over the country, so it is called Sanshu Yoshida.
Yoshida is the confluence of the Toyokawa River and the Asakura River, and is on the border between Atsumi County, Hoi County, and Yana County.
At the end of the Edo period, the domain had a rice yield of 70,000 koku, surpassing the Okazaki and Nishio domains and making it the largest in Mikawa.
